One of the main purposes of the arrangement with Travis was to make people see Georgie as an adult, but when it came to sex it felt like she was infantilized all over again. I know that's some people's jam (all the power to you), but it made me so uncomfortable. Then came "Seriously, Travis was the reason she couldn't hear 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' without getting horny" and I knew I had to keep reading to see if it was going to get worse.Īnd then we find out that Georgie is a children's party clown, which felt really out of place to say the least.Īaaand then my discomfort was heightened by her being "deflowered" (yeesh) by an older man who calls her baby girl. I might be a bit dramatic, but I nearly deleted the book right then and there. The first red flag was the Castle family business being named Brick & Morty. It just didn't hit the same, in fact, I found it was almost laughably bad and deeply uncomfortable at some points. I was planning on reading as many of her books as possible, but Fix Her Up has stopped me in my tracks. After reading the Bellinger sisters books and My Killer Vacation, I was hooked on Bailey's writing style.
